Pioneer UHD compatibility and help
The questions we get most by email. If yours isn’t here, write to help@trev.bot and include the support report from the app when there is one.
Can trev.bot flash my Pioneer drive?
Start with your exact model and firmware version. Two drives with the same model name can need different firmware conversions, so a model name alone is not a compatibility check.
- Download trev.bot flash for 64-bit Windows and connect your drive.
- Press Check. The app reads the model and firmware without changing them. You do not need an activation code for this step.
- Read the result for your drive. Buy a flash license only if a conversion is available and you decide to proceed.
The current supported drive list is a starting point. The app checks your connected drive before offering a conversion. If your drive is not listed, you can request free survey access. A survey helps investigate support; it does not guarantee that a conversion will become available.
Crossflashing or downgrading: what changes?
Crossflashing changes a supported drive to firmware for a compatible sister model. Downgrading installs an earlier firmware release for the same model. trev.bot shows the source and target before you confirm. A similar model name does not mean its firmware is interchangeable.
The aim is to let a supported drive read UHD Blu-ray discs with compatible ripping software. After a completed flash, use MakeMKV to check the result with your discs. See the app's steps before starting, and read the flashing precautions.
Licenses, safety and troubleshooting
- Do I need to buy anything before I can check my drive?
- No. Download the Windows app, connect the drive and press Check. The app reads the model and firmware without changing anything and tells you whether a conversion is available. Buying a flash license only matters once you know your drive is supported.
- What is the difference between a flash license and survey access?
- A flash license is what you buy: an activation code you paste into the app, nothing is shipped. It gives you one flash of one supported drive, from any Windows PC. Once used, it’s spent. Survey access is free: its code opens the app’s survey mode, which reads a drive that isn’t supported yet and sends us what it finds so we can add it. Survey mode never flashes anything. Request one from Drive not listed? on the front page.
- What does one flash license cover?
- Each activation code gives you one flash of one supported drive, from any Windows PC. Once used, it’s spent. The website cart offers single licenses and five-packs with five separate codes for $127.46 (15% off). Unused flashes have no expiry. Checking or preparing a drive does not use the flash. If a flash failed through no fault of your own, email us with your receipt and we’ll sort it out.
- Which drives are supported?
- The list on the front page is the whole list, straight from the app. “Verified on real drives” means someone has converted that model with the app and confirmed the result. “Also supported” means the conversion is in the app and awaiting its first confirmed run. The app always checks your exact model and firmware before offering anything.
- What does the conversion give me?
- Firmware that reads UHD Blu-ray discs in ripping software that supports it. On most models that is the older firmware of the sister “U” model; on a few, such as the BDR-S13U, it is an earlier release of the same model. Playback in ordinary player software is unchanged.
- Is it safe?
- Firmware modification can fail or make a drive unusable, and no check can rule that out. The app reduces the risk where it can: it checks the drive and hash-checks every firmware file before writing, asks you to type the drive’s serial, and writes nothing until you press and hold. During the flash keep the drive, cable and power exactly as they are and leave the app open. Use an empty drive.
- The flash stopped, or the app says verification is incomplete. What now?
- Some drives restart themselves at the end of a flash, which the app reports rather than guesses about. Keep the drive powered and connected; the app usually checks it again by itself. If it asks, choose Verify saved session: it reads the drive again and confirms the new firmware without writing anything. If Verify does not pass, don’t retry; save the support report and email it to us.
- Where is my license?
- It was shown right after checkout and emailed to your checkout address. Paste it into the app’s Key page. You can always get it back from Find my purchase with that email address.
- Does the app need an Internet connection?
- Yes, for activation, for downloading the firmware files, and for confirming the result. It runs on 64-bit Windows.
- Something went wrong with a purchase.
- Email help@trev.bot with your receipt and, if you flashed, the support report. Don’t send your activation code or card details. Any remedy required by consumer law stays available; see the Terms and Conditions.
